Me and the Brooks family
See me working very hard for a national newspaper in my Nashville office, located at 1109 17th Ave. South. Owners of the building: Doyle-Lewis, at the time management and publicists of Garth Brooks. But how did I get there?...
...When I first visited Nashville in '89, Scott Stem was the first man in the music industry I met. Look at the box in his hand. That's a box of Leonidas, Belgium's finest choclats, and I'm famous for them. This is not the place to tell funny stories about choclats, but there are many.
The next day, Scott introduced me to Pam Lewis, head of PLA Media, who later teamed up with Bob Doyle, to form Doyle-Lewis. Pam is still a dear friend, back on her own and happier than ever.
The guy in the middle doesn't need introduction. On his right of course is Sandy, and she likes choclats too. Through Pam Lewis I've met Garth in an early stage of his career, and did interviews with him before the hits came along. And believe me, he never changed. Pam also wanted me to be in the video for "Friends in low places", and Garth always denied it, but it was never put out because of my ugly face.
During my research for a story about Garth, for "Het Volk", a national newspaper in Belgium, I also talked to Allen Reynolds, Garth's producer, in his studio, where the girl at the desk turned out to be Debbie Nimms, later on doing a lot of backing vocals for Garth.
