Canadians
A lot of Canadians went to Nashville looking for a career, but no one really succeeded. Paul Brandt did a couple of albums, good enough for a Canadian break through.
However, if someone made it in the U.S., it's Michelle Wright. Big name in Europe as well, because of her regular appearances and still big in Canada.
Lucille Starr had a career over a couple of decades, in both country and pop. Here she's backed up by one of Canada's finest bands, South Mountain, frequent Europe visitors (they toured again in the summer of 2002).
Lucille Starr and South Mountain even did a show especially for VRT, which is Belgium's national radio. They performed in Belgium as well in the summer of 2002 at the Bomal festival.

Quite unexpected but fortunately I was the first one in Europe to broadcast an interview with k.d. lang, here seen at the Parkpop festival in The Hague, Holland (300,000 visitors) with her great band the Reclines. I'd been talking to her manager for a couple of hours, telling him that I wanted some liners for my radio show. But he said: "small chance, because she only slept two hours on
the plane before she got here. So, after the show she will be so exhausted that she probably can't do it". But he said "I'll see what I can do for you".
And after some patiently waiting, there she was, very tired after the show. And she turned out to be as nice as a person can be, and asked if I wanted to do an interview. Of course I would.
Not all of the visitors have seen k.d. lang and the Reclines, because there were three stages, but at least a 100,000 were watching her. Everybody liked her high energy show, but she got them all silent, when she was doing Roy Orbison's "Crying".
